Endometriosis Patient Story

Updated: Nov 22, 2022

A 'life-changing' treatment of endometriosis

The following personal story is from a patient of Ann Marie James, Ribble Valley. "I experienced symptoms of Endometriosis from the age of 15 years old. At the age of 23, this was eventually confirmed at a diagnostic Laparoscopy. The diagnosis was one of 'Moderate Endometriosis'. This involved multiple chocolate cysts on the Ovaries, which were stuck to the Uterus by adhesions.

Now I had the answer for the severe abdominal and bowel pain (I had become used to this), which was causing the heaviness and dull pressure feeling in my abdomen; this also referring into my legs. I had difficulty in standing upright. The monthly menstrual cycle included the above, as well as the very heavy thick, flooding loss, which was black in colour. Along with this I suffered from bloating, constipation and fatigue. My mood swings were awful. I was suppressing a lot of anger and frustrations, due to the severity of my condition. This had an effect on my self-worth and confidence; not helped by my fluctuating weight gain. It was an endurance.
