For the past three years, I have been working as a Recovery Worker at Reach, Weymouth’s Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service. In this role, I support individuals on their journey to overcome addiction and make sustainable, positive changes in their lives. My work focuses on empowering clients to break the cycle of dependency through a person-centred, compassionate approach.
In addition to traditional recovery support, I am a qualified NADA GB (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association Great Britain) practitioner. NADA ear acupuncture is a simple, non-verbal, and highly effective treatment that uses five specific points on the ear to promote natural pain relief, reduce stress, and support the body's detoxification processes. This holistic method helps improve overall wellbeing and quality of life.
Since September 2023, I have been facilitating weekly NADA ear acupuncture sessions for clients at Reach. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Clients frequently report immediate benefits, including relief from pain, increased relaxation, and improved sleep — often after just one session. Those who attend regularly have noticed deeper and more lasting changes, such as improved mental clarity, better stress management, and a greater sense of emotional stability.
Many clients have also found the treatment helpful in reducing cravings and breaking patterns associated with addiction. Weekly sessions are often described as a key part of their recovery, enhancing their mood, outlook, and ability to make positive lifestyle changes.
To further support clients, I offer a weekly "Feel-Good Friday" group. This session is specifically designed to help manage end-of-week stress and cravings — a time that can be particularly challenging in recovery. The 40-minute NADA treatment encourages the release of endorphins, providing a natural and uplifting ‘high’ that promotes emotional balance and wellbeing going into the weekend.
